How Did MrBeast Make His Money? For most people, YouTube is a reliable place to find information and entertainment. A small number of people, however, have used the video platform to become millionaires.
MrBeast stands out as one of the most successful YouTubers. Much of his money comes from his content creation. He has also used his popularity to invest in other businesses. By so doing, he has captured the full value across the journey a buyer takes from ad click to order page.
Who Is MrBeast?
MrBeast is the name used by YouTube personality Jimmy Donaldson. His YouTube channel shares the name MrBeast.
Donaldson has one of the streaming video platform’s largest channels, with more than 180 million subscribers. Donaldson also operates related channels, including:
- Beast Philanthropy
- MrBeast Gaming
- Beast Reacts
- MrBeast Shorts
His smallest channel has over 7 million subscribers.
MrBeast’s videos enjoy enormous viewership. His most popular video, $456,000 Squid Game In Real Life, received 490 million views within 1 year. The video replicates challenges from the television series Squid Game without the violence.
MrBeast has gained considerable popularity by giving away large cash prizes and donations. He donates 100% of ad revenue from the Beast Philanthropy channel to charity. He has also supported fundraising challenges like Team Trees and Team Seas.
MrBeast is also involved in business ventures like the virtual restaurant MrBeast Burger, the Feastables food company, and the Finger on the App mobile game.
How Did MrBeast Get Famous?
MrBeast got famous by creating entertaining videos for YouTube. Much of his content includes absurd stunts, such as getting buried alive for 50 hours and going through the same drive-thru 1,000 times.
It isn’t just MrBeast’s amusing content that attracts viewers, though. He’s an expert at creating content that appeals to YouTube’s algorithm. He includes “clickbait” titles, encourages viewers to like videos, and typically keeps videos between 10 and 20 minutes. These and other features make it easier for YouTube to recommend his videos to potential viewers.
Giving away large prizes to people who participate in his videos also helps attract viewers. When people see such extravagant cash giveaways, they become invested in the outcome.
At some point in his career, MrBeast realized that giving away more money meant that he could increase his revenues and profits. Not all of the videos involve giving away his own money, though.
He often finds corporate sponsors that benefit from supporting such a popular YouTube channel and reaching new customers.
MrBeast First Video YouTube
MrBeast uploaded his first video to YouTube on November 19, 2015. It’s a three-minute clip of him playing Minecraft. It’s still available on the channel, but he’s changed the title to MrBeast6000’s First Video (So Bad lol).
Despite the video’s limited quality and entertainment, MrBeast’s popularity has attracted more than 12 million views.
Many people who leave comments on the video say they’re amazed by how quickly MrBeast’s abilities grew.
How Did MrBeast Make His Money?
MrBeast made his money by building one of the most popular channels on YouTube. In 2023, Donaldson had the second most popular channel on YouTube. Other channels with large audiences include:
- T-Series (#1)
- Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes (#3)
- SET India (#4)
- Kids Diana Show (#5)
- PewDiePie (#6)
- Like Nastya (#7)
PewDiePie has 111 million subscribers as of September 2023. The two have collaborated on videos, though, because their audiences have significant crossover. Anyone who loves PewDiePie will likely enjoy MrBeast, so it makes sense for them to work together and grow their audiences.
MrBeast’s videos earn money in at least two ways. He has corporate sponsors that support his content and often give away large amounts of money or prizes. He also generate income through YouTube advertisements that play before and during his videos.
How Much Does MrBeast Make Per Video?
Like all YouTube creators, the amount of money MrBeast makes per video depends on factors like how many people view the video and whether they watch the advertisements.
Some estimates suggest that he makes about $1-$3 million per video. This assumes that YouTube pays him $3-$10 per 1,000 views. Since his videos receive 20 million views on average, he should earn, at the very least, north of six figures on average per video.
However, this amount doesn’t account for money he might get from his sponsors. It also doesn’t include any costs he must pay for to produce high-quality videos. A channel with MrBeast’s following needs a team of people, and those people need to get paid for their work.
MrBeast Burger
MrBeast Burger is a virtual restaurant developed in coordination with Virtual Dining Concepts, LLC.
In 2020, the company released an app that lets customers purchase food for delivery. A nearby kitchen contracted by MrBeast Burger prepares the food. It’s then delivered by DoorDash or UberEats to the customer’s location.
Currently, the company has more than 1,000 kitchens operating in the U.S., Canada, and U.K. One permanent location operates in the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The only MrBeast Burger physical location opened on November 10, 2020 in Wilson, NC. It was a redecorated Burger Boy restaurant that has since been converted back into a Burger Boy. Donaldson used the grand opening to give away numerous prizes, including free food and a new car. He used footage from the event to make a YouTube video.
The opening of MrBeast Burger attracted consumers throughout the area. At some times, the drive-thru line stretched 20 miles.
Many believe that MrBeast Burger helped several restaurants survive the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. With dining rooms closed in most states, restaurants had to rely on take out and delivery orders. MrBeast Burger created a unique option that attracted new customers who were fans of the MrBeast YouTube channel.
Any restaurant can apply to become a MrBeast Burger kitchen. Most of the ghost kitchens, however, are operated by Bravo! Italian Kitchens, Buca di Beppos, and Bertucci’s.
MrBeast Burger’s menu includes a variety of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, Impossible Burgers, fries, and other sides.
How Rich Is MrBeast?
MrBeast’s wealth has grown with his subscriber numbers. It’s estimated that he had a net worth of $17 million in 2017, when his channel had a million subscribers. He surpassed 180 million subscribers in 2023.
Currently, followers estimate that he has a net worth of about $500 million. This includes assets like homes in several states and a large collection.
If MrBeast can continue growing his audience, he will make larger sums of money. He has admitted that making popular YouTube videos is somewhat formulaic. He could potentially make more videos to earn more money.
At the same time, he already puts a tremendous amount of effort into his content. Working more might provide extra cash, but he already has plenty to enjoy his time off.
Some even forecast that MrBeast will become a billionaire. Alex Hormozi, for example, has estimated that he will not only eclipse the billion dollar level but will be 100x richer, reaching $100 billion in his lifetime. A primary reason for the sky high wealth forecast is his young age.
Even if he grows his wealth modestly over the next 50 years, he will reach the billion dollar level, let alone if he leverages his existing assets. At such a young age, it’s unlikely that MrBeast will slow down any time soon. More likely, he will forge a path to greater wealth by launching further products, such as Feastables Deez Nuts.
What Disease Does MrBeast Have?
MrBeast has been public about his struggles with Crohn’s disease, a chronic condition that causes swelling in the digestive tract. The condition can cause fever, fatigue, weight loss, diarrhea, and bloating.
People with Crohn’s disease can often manage symptoms by taking anti-inflammatory drugs, immune system suppressors, and antibiotics during flare-ups. Avoiding certain foods can also help people control the condition.
MrBeast has a demanding work schedule that often involves shooting for five days in a row. That doesn’t even include the work involved in developing ideas, forming partnerships with sponsors, writing scripts, and managing his team.
